Understanding Wise Mind: The Balance of Our Emotions and Our Logic
One of the core foundations in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is "Wise Mind”; a concept that represents a balanced state of mind where emotional and rational thinking converge. Wise Mind is a powerful tool in this therapeutic framework, promoting better decision-making and emotional regulation. Wise Mind is the ability to find balance between our emotional experiences and our logical interpretations; it is the harmonious integration of two other states of mind: Emotion Mind and Reasonable Mind. These two states often pull us in different directions, but Wise Mind seeks to find a middle path that honors both emotional experiences and logical reasoning.
